Destination Wedding Italy | Chianti - Tuscany
The Tuscan countryside is definitely epically romantic and full of magic. The Chianti region with its vineyards and its olive trees fills your sight and your heart.
The estate of San Leo, in the middle of the hills between Siena and Florence, provides you with a beautiful and relaxing view. In the early morning you could taste not only the beauty of the place but also the frenzy of wedding preparations. David, the groom, was already waiting for me and frantically checking if every detail was ok. And it could not have been otherwise. Working with Rachael of Weddingsmith is always a pleasure. Not only because I know I’ll find everything perfectly as it should be, but because I know I can always count on her and her competence to help me develop every idea that comes to mind… For my work this is very important. Telling the stories of people is not easy and most of the time you need points of view which are very different from the usual. Cooperating with people and a staff who do not limit you, and who – on the contrary – support your vision and trust you, contributes to making the experience of the newlyweds unique and unforgettable.
“Take it easy!” was the catchphrase of this day. Kim, the bride wore her simple and elegant dress while calmly toasting and joking with her friends and bridesmaids, while David was playing football with his friends inside his apartment. To see him joking while struggling with the bow tie made me realize a lot about him. For them I needed an unusual place for the shooting, to get a portrait of them as they really are: elegant, laid-back but distinctly different.?After seeing various parts of the estate, I asked Rachael to clear an entire area which is used as a store room for lemon trees in the winter months, and where, I was sure, in the afternoon a faint light from outside would filter in. Definitely a place that no one would ever consider for a photo shoot, but which for me was really suitable to capture their personalities.?Normally I do not want to steal too much time for the pictures of the couple. I prefer the bride and groom to enjoy their party and their guests. Hence, when I can, I try to prepare as much as possible beforehand and have any “set” for the shooting session ready well in advance so all we need to do is capture the moment.?The evening then was unforgettable, with a concert led by “The Umagroso“, – one of the coolest bands I know – and an unexpected performance by the bride and groom themselves who took the floor for a lively, upbeat first dance routine that left all guests speechless …
